Avalo is a biotechnology company developing climate-resilient crops through an AI-powered breeding platform. Their “Rapid Evolution” technology uses interpretable machine learning and genomic discovery to identify complex plant traits and accelerate crop development while maintaining natural, non-GMO breeding processes.
The goal of this project was to design a digital experience that communicates Avalo’s scientific innovation and AI-driven plant breeding platform to partners, researchers, and agricultural stakeholders in a clear and engaging way.

Traditional crop breeding methods are slow, resource-intensive, and often struggle to adapt to the challenges posed by climate change. Developing new crop varieties can take years and requires extensive experimentation and genetic analysis.
The digital challenge was to:
1. Communicate complex plant genomics and AI technology clearly
2. Position Avalo as a leader in climate-resilient agriculture
3. Simplify scientific messaging for multiple audiences
4. Present the company’s proprietary breeding platform in an intuitive format
5. Build credibility with research partners, investors, and agricultural companies

As the UI/UX Designer on the project, I was responsible for shaping the user experience and interface design of the website.
My responsibilities included:
• UX research and industry analysis
• Structuring the website information architecture
• Designing wireframes for core landing pages
• Creating high-fidelity UI layouts in Figma
• Designing visual storytelling sections for scientific concepts
• Ensuring responsive design across desktop and mobile
• Collaborating with developers to maintain design consistency during implementation
The redesigned platform strengthens Avalo’s digital presence by translating advanced biotechnology and AI innovation into a clear and compelling user experience.
By simplifying complex genomic technologies through thoughtful UX design, the platform helps communicate Avalo’s mission to accelerate the development of climate-resilient crops and create a more sustainable global food system.
